To ensure a new life after death for deceased people of higher rank, tombs in ancient Egypt contained, among other objects, statuettes representing Ushabtis (servants). Their task was to carry out the manual work necessary for the hereafter.
In our time, we do not seek to organize our afterlife, rather we aspire to eternal youth.&#38;nbsp;Beauty treatments seem to aim at maintaining an illusion of immortality in earthly life.&#38;nbsp;Here, the Ushabtis are transposed onto our contemporary world through containers&#38;nbsp;of beauty products.

	‘Mille huit cent milliards de déchets plastiques et moi, et moi, et moi’
Inspired by excessive plastic waste, which is abandoned on beaches and other natural environments, she makes ceramic fragments that cast plastic bottles, cans of cleaning products, ready-to-cook food trays and so on that are used on a daily basis.
She takes an ethnographic look on consumption, suggesting that our waste is already turning into archaeological fragments of our time that carry cultural significance.

	‘Premiers pas sur Mars’ 
Is it a utopian thought - the desire to visit or live on Mars? Many scientists are actively working on it, trying to realize this project, and considerable resources are being exploited.
Why try to overcome and solve such challenges when vital problems are still present on&#38;nbsp; earth?
The idea of the first steps on the moon became the starting point of Maria Pol's piece. The footprint of a flip-flop (thong) symbolises two things; on one hand, the socially disadvantaged populations that are in a perpetual state of survival and, on the other hand, it stands for the determination to colonize, in this case space, which is a fundamental recurring pattern in human history. It is an allegory of the exodus of migrants in search of a better life and the quest for an extra-terrestrial future.
